I'm a very sensitive person. Starting new drugs always freak me out. I can't sleep and feel like I'm gonna jump out my skin. Is this drug safe?
Me Willy; I agree 100% with the first post this is a drug that is prescribed for many reasons and many people use it with very little problems. But it is not going to do any good unless you start to take it and take it the way the doctor says. many side effects if any in most case go away. Chuck1957
Trazodone is primarily an antidepressant although it seems to be more commonly prescribed for insomnia nowadays. It does work for some people but many others can't tolerate the side effects mainly because it metabolises into a substance called mcpp which is actually a stimulant. It may be worth a try but if it doesn't work the first couple of nights I would go back to your doctor and ask for a medication actually licensed for insomnia rather than a drug that just happens to have drowsiness as a side effect in about 40 percent of people.
Everybody's post and comments on this question have been one hundred percent correct.
My only question is did a doctor who is very familiar with you prescribed the Trazodone?
If so then I would take the medication as prescribed.
Relax it's a safe effective prescription for sleep aid.
If you're still nervous about taking the Trazodone cut the pill in half and take half a dose and then see if it worked.

Does trazodone work quickly or is it one of those drugs you have to take for awhile before it works?
