Trazodone - what is the appropriate dosage? what are the side affects?

Hi Mary-
Trazadone is an older antidepressant. It is prescribed 20 to 50 mg off label for sleep because it has sedative effects. It is used in higher doses 150 to 400 mg in divided doses as an antidepressant. So it really depends on what it was prescribed for. It can have side effects that you can read about on this site. Not everyone has the side effects.
