I will be traveling overseas to a country that is 6 hours ahead of EST. I will be there for 7 days. Currently I take Levothyroxin at 5:30 a.m. and wait two hours before eating and drinking. Any advice as to what to do with the time zone change? Thanks!
I just asked this very same question a few days ago to my endocrinologist as I am on the east coast and heading to Italy in Sept. His advice was to just remember to take a pill once in every 24 hrs... so once we get there and it's morning there, to take a 'morning' pill and stick to that regime until heading home and then do the same thing. As for eating, I have never been told I needed to wait more than an hour to eat breakfast. IN fact, I always have my coffee 30 mins after my pill, that's the minimum wait I have been advised of and I cannot wait longer for my morning coffee, period! As for eating, I personally wait about 2 hrs or more b/c I am not interested in breakfast until then. I just don't take my vitamins (containing calcium/iron) until 4 hrs after I take my pill. I'm not going to drive myself nuts about this ONE week vacation, and I suggest you don't either! Hope this helps.
