Hi, Diphenhydramine is a good sleep aid, it is one of the ingredients in Nightnurse, which is one of the only medications that help me sleep. However, as Dzoo has stated, it shouldn't be given to someone without the advice of a doctor or pharmacist. Other medications your mother may be taking could react, or it may just not be a suitable medication for her.
