Should I continue taking tramadol with gabapentin and lyrica or quit tramadol for neuropathy???
This is something you must evaluate with your DR.
Its my own preference but I wouldn't take gabapentin and lyrica together. I feel its not necessary. Gabapentin has a wide dose range so can be increased if its not helping. Neither is a pain medication.
I have fibermyalga and take lyrica. Doctor says I can take tramadol with it. Don't know about gabapentin.
Hi, i take Lyrica, and found it helpful when discontinuing alcohol, it can also be helpful when discontinuing some medications, so i would think it could be quite successful. Depending on why you are taking the Gabapentin, i would say that this, OR the Lyrica should be sufficient, rather than taking the 2 together (but your doctor can advise you on this)... I assume your doctor has prescribed the Lyrica, has he given you an idea of a tapering schedule for the Tramadol? Lyrica can be used to relieve some pain conditions, as well as being used for anxiety, so hopefully it will be a good alternative, whether short or long term
hhmmm... my dr just started me on tramadol 3 weeks ago; have been on gabapentin and cymbalta for 5 months now... feel less pain (from 9 to 6) but i still have insomnia, along with other issues that drive me nuts... so far tho the tramadol/gaba/cymb combo is somewhat successful... i do thro in Tylenol from time to time as needed...
Lyrica and gabapentin(or neurotin) are both great for neuropathy. Depending on how severe your pain, both would be fine. Just ask your doctor for a definite answer!
