Let me explain, I was given Tramadol for neck pain and was getting no relief. I spoke to the Doctor about it and He had Me double up on my dosage and prescribed me Methocarbmol 3 time daily. Now I'm walking around with my neck hurting and burning, with a bad headache and yawning all the time. Can someone give me some idea whats going on. I was prescribed the pain medication Gabapentin in the past and it didn't work.
What is tramadol, and why want it work for me?

Thanks for the fast response from both, I also have my neck fused together with the exception of 1 and 2. As for the mg the tramadol is 50 mg instructions say to take one every 8 to 12 hours as needed for pain. I have doubled that at Doctor orders, on my worse days I'm taking 6 tabs a day but still having pain.
I believe the tramadol is giving me the pounding headache because of the amount I take, o I get a weird feeling but very little relief.
I'm no longer on Gabapentin I tried that a while back got no relief I have just stopped taking lyrica because I did not feel it was doing anything for me so far my feeling was correct its been 3 weeks and I've had no change in my pain lvl. Its all very discouraging.
How much gabapentin were you on? Its not a pain med, it helps reduce nerve pain. Tramadol is a pain med for moderate pain. I took 100 mg 4 times a day and I found you can't take it when needed, you have to have take it on a regular basis, to prevent the pain. I'm seeing drs order 50mg when needed and that won't ever work. There is an extended release version that works allot better. Its the methocarbamol that is making you sleepy. There are other muscle relaxers if you can't adjust to it.
You don't specify the milligrams of your Tramadol, which is a pain reliever, but in my book not one of the best. However it works for many people. As for the Methocarbamol, or Gabapentin, I would also need the mgs. daily to say why it might not be working, so it's hard to say what's happening or not happening. I know I'm fused at all levels of my neck, except C1-2 for obvious reasons. But Gabapentin works great for me, but I take 2400 milligrams, but as for the others I would need to know the milligrams of the other meds. and the reason you have the neck pain. It all makes a huge difference as to what my answer or help might be.
