I did not know that Tramadol is used for veterinary purposes! It is strictly controlled in my state, classed the same as morphine. As a former cattleman, I know that dogs react differently to medications than humans (and cows) and I WOULD NOT administer a vet-prescribed pain med to a 9-lb. dog without precise directions! I am thinking of an adult 50mg dose of Tramadol given to a nine-pound infant! Every vet I have ever used has at least taped hand-written directions for use on the outside of the bottle. You got no verbal instructions when you picked up the med?
Hi, is there an ooh service you can contact? Tramadol is routinely prescribed for pets in the UK where i live, so i wouldn't be concerned about using it for your dog, but it important to get specific dose requirements. As well as the species and weight of the pet it is being prescribed for, the condition for which it is being used also needs to be taken in to consideration...
