Is tramadol hydrochlride in any way similar to dextropropoxyphine hydrochloride?

No other than they are both pain relievers. Tramadol is an "opioid like" medication. It is not a true opioid but it does act on the opioid receptors in the brain. Dextropropoxyphine is a mild opioid. You may get similar relief from the two drugs but other than both being pain relievers, they are not alike chemically.
