Tramadol is used to treat moderate to severe pain.
It is for moderate pain. I learned after taking it for many years, that it worked best if you took it on a regular basis and didn't wait until you had pain. There is also an extended release form, and that works really good, but it is too expensive for me, and my insurance won't pay for it.
I would say moderate pain reliever also. I took it for a back injury (prolapsed discs) and it was very effective. It works better if you take it every 4 hours (immediate release version).
Personally, I consider it mild to useless. Just my opinion.
