Anyone recommend? Does all pain med have the potential to cause seizures? I am on keppra as well as have high blood pressure & hypothyroidism ( low thyroid?). I took Mepergan Fortis after my back was broken & my joint capsules were destroyed ( from C-1 - T-4 ) with pretty good results. Does anyone have any experience with that? I am just so afraid of everything after having the seizures. Thank you in advance for your input :)
I haven't heard of mepergan fortis, & can't find it in the Drugs A to Z. Are you sure of the spelling & don't mean meperidine which is demerol? That would sound like something more you would have been given whie in the hspital in shots or your IV. They usually do add something for nausea too. There are many many pain drugs that don't necessarily cause seizures. I know the tramadol scared you, but I still think it was the way you took it, & that indicates an addictive type of personality. I believe what you need to dois be referred to a Pain Specialist & get to the bottom of this whole ordeal. I understand your fear of the seizures, but I have chrontic pain everyday of my life & will til I die. I take oxycodone, & have never heard of anyone having a siezure problem, but that's not to say it couldn't happen to anyone. With your injury, you really need to see a specialist in pain control. There are so many different types. There are pills, patches, immediate release, extended release types & so on. You need evaluated & have your dose regulated by someone who really knows what the heck your injury is all about. What type of pain are you experiencing? Where & on a scale of 1 - 10 is it on a normal day? These are questions you will be asked, & they will decide on some of these & more what to try you on. You need to be upfront tho' about the tramadol & be prepared to sign a contract that you will not get pain meds from any other source. It's just the new laws to protect the doctors & keep drugs off the street. I wish you the best, & stay with us & read responses on pain control & opiates...
