In the past 6 to 8 months I, and my girlfriend have noticed that I have been to name a few, physically tired, joint and muscle pain, weight gain, mood changes, sluggish, excessive perspiration, depression, and others.
Hi: if you have the time before your doctor visit, try to get a copy of Mary Shomon's book on Hypothyroidism. In it, she discusses ALL the blood tests that 'can' be done in order to get a correct diagnosis. I spent many years suffering, as the docs only did a TSH test, and then told me my test showed that I was in the "low-normal" range. I personally believe that because this issue was not addressed properly, and I went without the thyroid meds that my body needed, my adrenals started to fail, and I was put on hydrocortisone for my low cortisol level. Ms. Shomon's book also discusses the connection between thyroid and adrenals. If your regular doc doesn't help you, look for a Functional Medicine doctor--who is one who has been trained to treat the WHOLE body and the inter-relationship of the various organs and systems. When I finally found mine, everything improved! I am also an advocate of compounded bio-identical hormones--including T3/T4 for the hypothyroidism. Good Luck!
