Hi, I'm currently taking LYRICA for my ibs pain and it works well with the exceptions of the weight gain and the Cost . With the ridiculously high cost of the LYRICA along with the costs of my other meds , I'm easily thrown into the Doughnut Hole, which I'm sure most knows what that means as well as how costly it can be for you depending on how many other meds your taking and how many more months until the end of the year. With that said, my question is, as I've just learned a little about it within the hour, how well can TOPAMAX replace the LYRICA for ibs / nerve related pain ? Thanks
I am on Topamax to help control my weight from taking Depakote. It works great. Then I added Lyrica for nerve pain after a fall on the ice. I have gained a small amount of weight and I retain water easily. I exercise daily and try to eat sensibly. My appetite is out of control since adding the Lyrica. Topamax helped with this in the past but no more.
My experience is that since being on Topamax prior to the fall I do not think it helped with the pain., which came afterward. The nerve pain was dreadful.
I don't know if it would help you.
Have you considered the other nerve pain medications? Cymbalta or Savella? A pain specialist is the best equipped doctor to help with pain medications.
