Hi. I've been taking Topamax for a few months now to help with weight loss, and because it is similar to another medication I used to take that helped with the irritability and mood swings brought on by depression. My psychiatrist has recently upped the dosage to 150 mgs, and although I've lost a few pounds, it hasn't really been the miracle solution to weight loss that so many others have experienced. I know the drug usually works by suppressing appetite, and I don't really feel like it has done much on that end. Could there be anything that I'm doing wrong in my lifestyle and habits that could be hindering progess? Or can we just chalk this up to the fact that it may not work for everyone?
It hasn't helped me with weight loss either. I'm thinking the other meds I take are counter it out so it doesn't work. Boy I wish it worked I've gained 30 lbs. on the different combinations and trials of meds we have been on th last few months.there is no guaranty for Topamax.
