Hello leslieHelen. I identify with some of the things you are dealing with such as diabetes and removed thyroid. My weight is ok. I know the routine of blood sugar testing and taking pills for disease and pills to counter the first pill effects. If your thyroid is under control that problem is solved. If not, time to work with the endocrinologist for all of these problems.
Have you worked with a therapist to find out what triggers the over eating? I have seen some discussions by doctors about people who are in your situation with weight and diabetes. They have found that there becomes an addiction to sugar in its various forms. Carbs and sweets are the main offender. We balance the sugar with fats and protein. The brain drives us to find the sugar because we have done so hundreds of times. it is the route the brain goes to give pleasure. like any addiction, over time one needs more to satisfy. A therapist will help you detox from the sugar and look for the reasons that eating is a pleasure instead of other stimuli like friends, activity, love, whatever is missing. If you get a handle on this, it does take work, you can lose weight and be happier.
To regain your healthy pancreas and the rest of your organs and body you have to start exercising. Just like on "The Biggest Loser" it takes work. Your doctor ought to be able to steer you towards a proper program. This can be done. Start slow and believe in it. You would be amazed.
For every ten pounds you lose, you can breath better, move better, feel better. Proper diet with controlled sweets will make a big change. Finally have someone, family, and all that are with you, be a partner in this. If they need to lose weight, you can do it together. It is one of those rare competitions where everyone wins, because all will lose weight.
Get a program from your doctor, use a dietician to show you proper food portions and balanced meals. Always start with a simple change. You are not alone. You really can do this. Best of all, you will be proud of the changes you make. Life opens up. I am cheering for you. Karen
Dr Oz, who is on TV right now, said that less stress means less cortisol. No cortisol produced from stress helps to lose weight. less belly fat makes happier you.
