the standard tests most docs order, correspond to fibromyalgia or cortisol issues? very confused, thank you in advance
I know it can be very confusing. I can only tell you about the thyroid & cortisol, as I've just gone through a complete battery due to low a.m. readings for cortisol, which supposedly indicated a problem in either the adrenal glands, or somewhere else in endocrine system. Apparently, its very tough for Drs. to find out from where the problems stem, as there can be many reasons for a disruption in the body's thousands of hormones, whether they are pituitary, adrenal, thyroid, or whatever. So, it takes a battery of tests, beginning with the basic cortisol, adrenal, thyroid tests, and they can all be affected by medications, stress, etc.. From there, they can order more tests based on the results. And, because they all interact, its tough to pinpoint. They thought I had adrenal burnout. Turned out it was from a medication, we think! I had to leave town after the initial round. But, I would suggest T3, T4, TSH for the thyroid, then have the Endocrinologist test for morning cortisol, and the 5 hr. adrenal fatigue test, which will tell them where to go from there. Only go through a very reputable Endocrinologist. This stuff is very complicated and you'll want the best. Good luck!
