True ADHD will respond to a stimulant, not thorazine. The stimulant stimulates the part of the brain responsible for filtering out information that the brain doesnt need to process. People with ADHD are hyperalert and their brains process ALL information that bombards the brain. A persons brain is bombarded with all kinds of sensory information and much of it is not needed and a normal brain will filter out the unnecessary information like the temperature of the room, the feel of your clothes against your skin, background noises, etc. A normal brain filters all of this kind of unnecessary information to the back of your thoughts, per say, or to your subconsious. An ADHD brain is conscious of EVERYTHING-every thought and every sensation that comes to the brain. They have difficulty filtering unnecessary information to their subconscious and this overwhelms the brain so that it is easy distracted and difficult to focus on one thought or one project. Stimulants help to turn on this filtering process and allows the person with ADHD or ADD to sit still and to focus. Thorazine is a tranquilizer and will just make them like a zombie-it will knock out both the conscious and the subconscious or it could actually have a paradoxical reaction and make them even more restless and agitated. It is the wrong kind of drug for ADHD. If it does have a tranquilizing effect, it could help their motor restlessness but will do nothing to help their brain to process information normally and would have a negative effect on their focus.
