im a 16 year old girl and i think i m,ight have anxiety because im always worried or nervous or stressed about something .
There are numerous medications that can help with anxiety many of which, as you said, can make you sleepy. There are those that won't though such as Zoloft or Lexapro or bupropion.. Best to have a professional evaluation by a doctor to determine if your anxiety needs medicinal treatment or whether talk therapy would be effective without medication. Personally, I would go the therapy route first before resorting to meds.
As already mentioned there are things that can help with anxiety, but you can't accurately diagnosis yourself. If you have an adult in your life that you can talk about this with in order to help you get into see a Dr.,do so. Being 16 can be very hard as well, and we do go through a lot of different experiences, that cause anxiety. But,could be that there is something specific that causes these feelings in you.If that is the case, try to seek out a group therapist,or one on one therapy if you have a supportive family. If you do have this, I'm sure they would want to know how you are feeling.
MeganFaith2013, Welcome. I started having extreme anxiety when I was about your age or yonger. I'm 42 now, and I still battling it. Do you have any friends that you can talk to about it? I know if you can find someone willing to to take the time to listen to what's going on with you, it really helps. If you dont, maybe you need a counselor or something like that. It's imortant to take care of this now, before it gets worse. I didn't handle it right and it cost me greatly. Some People just suffer from it. You don't have to answer, but have you had any trauma in your life lately. Are you depressed because you don't have any friends? Things like that. I know those things still upset me. I encourage you to go to a doctor and tell him whats going on. I have two older teenage boys having problems, and I feel like i have noone to talk about it to. I have many fiends, but noone that really wants to deal with sort of thing. So I do understand.
Please get help now, before something worse happens. I will say a special prayer for you. Take care and many blessings to you. Your Friend Ruthie
