... dr. for instead?i want long acting to supplement my other meds.
This question has also been asked and answered here: What's the difference between Oxycontin OC 40 and OP 40?
I am reading all on this site this weekend about the change in the medicine. It was changed to prevent people from crushing it and abusing it. I am reasonably positive by the many posts I have seen on it that the one you were taking is NO longer available and others have complained about how the new OC is not as effective as the OP. ChristineATU has a saying OP changed to OC so you don't OD. You will have to call your doctor and get something else and let them know that this isn't working anymore for you. MS Contin is long acting, Pain patches ( fentanyl) are also long acting. Methadone is actually a long acting pain med and taken properly, it works well and is safe. It gets to be dangerous when people take other pain meds , muscle relaxer, sleeping pills or benzo tranquilizers with it. Good Luck.
