Hi. My wife has Crohn's, and uses Pentasa regularly. She currently has the flu. I see from the website that anti-viral meds may affect the Pentasa. How much of a concern is this? Obviously she is already suppressing her immune system with other meds, so battling the flu is taking its toll. Is it risky for her to take anti-viral meds?
I was diagnosed with crohns in 2010 and was put on Humaria and it suppressed my immune system greatly. In Nov 2010, I had major back surgery and my doctor (the neurosurgeon) took me off the Humaria because he was afraid an infection would set in.
Honestly I would contact her GI doctor, he/she should be able to decide what's best for her. If there is a possibility there could be an infection it can be bad news.
I dont know if that helped but definitely call the doctor.
Good luck! I hope she feels better soon
