I m having the infection in urine which iam treated since 2011. How dangerous is this infection? I recently found out that protein in my blood is high. I hv goggle it but I do not understand
Elevated nitrates and protein in URINE indicate a urinary tract infection, just as you've said you have. But having this since 2011 isn't healthy or normal at all. Have you been seeing a nephrologist? Have you had 24 hr. urine collections? Tests on these collections? If so, what have you been told is going on for the last 4 years?
Having protein in your urine is often a sign of kidney disease. Healthy kidneys do not allow a significant amount of protein to pass through their filters. But filters damaged by kidney disease may let proteins such as albumin leak from the blood into the urine.
Are you saying you have high protein on your BLOOD tests? This would be indicative of an infectious/inflammatory process. It doesn't tell you which process.
If you can answer some of my questions, maybe I can make sense of some of your questions for you. Take care.
