I don't have a clue how I got Hep C. I live a clean life never did drugs, Never had unprotected sex. Just felt something was wrong. Lost all my energy went to the doctor and that's when I found out I had a hep C. Other than that I am extremely healthy my liver is perfect. Took a long time for me to get this medicine thank God I was approved. So my question to you guys is how soon should I get myself tested I'm already on my first week. No side effects, I feel fine, I have been drinking a lot of water like it was recommended by other people.
I too led & continue to lead a very healthy life but I got Hepc from a blood transfusion many years ago due to a health crisis at the time. Putting aside the reason why or how the virus was contracted, right now we have a cure and that is the priority now and it works! Most GI doctors who I assume you are seeing ... start taking follow up blood tests approximately a month after treatment begins with Harvoni! and then every month thereafter. however, that may depend on how many weeks you will be on it, 8, 12 or 24. Usually the doctor will give you a script for future blood tests. if not... you should contact him/her. Harvoni works very fast and is extremley affective. good luck!
I have no interest in how people got HCV; I'm on 12 weeks of Harvoni and Ribavirin for HCV type 1a. I didn't need the treatment lecture again, the treatment nurse asked if I had any side effects? Absolutely none of any sort I replied, so they stocked me up and said come back for a viral load test 3 months after you have finished.
Now Gilead have a new treatment available (since late June?) that offers a 99%plus cure rate for ALL genotypes in 12 weeks.
