I have Wilson's Disease and my treatment consists of taking 100mg of zinc daily. I had blood work done to see if I was anemic since I was getting lower on copper. Blood work shows Iron high, transferrin high, TIBC high, iron % saturation normal, normal ferritin, low hemoglobin, low hematocrit. If I was anemic would my iron be high? I can't find anything on the web that fits my test results. Waiting for dr. to discuss results but he takes forever to get back to you.
that is actually pretty strange. wilson's disease is usually not associated with anemia except for in cases of liver failure in which case it causes hemolytic anemia; however there are MANY causes of anemia:
iron deficiency, vitamin b12 defieicney, folate deficiency, hereditary spherocytosis, thalassemia, sickle cell disease, hemolytic anemia, G6PD, etc, etc, etc
