Forteo medication for osteoporosis requires that it be constantly chilled. For travel it come with kit which includes two small frozen packets. I am wondering if ice would suffice in place of refrigeration and the frozen packets.
Forteo (actually all drugs that require to be kept cold) should be stored 2-8 degrees C (36 to 46 degrees F).
I used one of those $4 blue ice packs about the size of the forteo box. Put that and the forteo in a plastic grocery bag, tied it off, put that in another plastic bag, tied it off etc ( I used about 8ten bags) it stayed cold for the 8 hours I didn't have acces to a fridge. Ice should work but you would need a lot more of it and more insulation since it thaws faster than the gel used in ice packs.
