Both Synthroid and omeprazole state that they have to be taken on an empty stomach, at least 1/2 hour before a meal. Can they be taken together? If not, which one should I take first?
I wouldn't take them together. Take Synthroid first then wait at least 1/2 before taking the omeprazole. My doc said that Omeprazole is going to block the absorption of other meds so ideally it should be taken as many hours apart as possible from other meds. If you take meds in the morning then take your omeprazole at night. (A pharmacist can give you the exact minimum time to take other meds after Omeprazole- just call any pharmacy and they're always happy to help.) Take care. x
