If you are having seizures you need to see a doctor asap. Alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous and sometimes worse. Please see a doctor or go to the ER if seizures are involved... Yes xanax will help if your doctor ordered it for that, as he will know how much to give, otherwise don't take it if you don't have a dr. helping you.. Take care and be safe.
Taking a habit forming drug to help with this sort of thing is not a viable solution. Was this prescribed to you for this specific reason? I would question (not object to) the Dr's logic there.
Hi, yes it can, and 5mg is a reasonable dose. Benzodiazepines are commonly used in controlled detoxes from alcohol (& other drugs). I was prescribed Librium (on a gradual reduction scale), as well as receiving vitamin B injections and starting on Naltrexone and Buscopan. I was also taking Thiamine for some time before quitting the drink. I would always suggest getting help when deciding to stop drinking, as a controlled detox is much safer and often more successful... Are you in a position to get help like this?
