Has there been a study on the side effects of STOPPING Premarin after 45 years??? I had a hystorictomy at 31 and have taken Premarin until 2 years ago at the age of 74!!! I experience at least one hot flash each night - I deal with anxiety and mild depression on a regular basis. My question: Could the fact that I took the hormone for so many years be a contribution factor to my symptoms - or perhaps the normal aging process - or another medical condition??? I have 6 month physicals - there are no red flag issues with my general health.
WHAT RESEARCH HAS BEEN DONE REGARDING TAKING PREMARIN OVER A LONG TERM???
Thank you for your attention to my question and concern.
If i'm getting your information correct, you stated you stopped Premarin two years ago and experiencing hot flash, depression and anxiety. If you stop taking hormones your symptoms will return, especially if you had a hysterectomy. Since we have had a hysterectomy, you will always be in menopause, that is why most women will take HRT for the rest of their lives. I take Premarin 1.25 and will take it for the rest of my life if I don't want to experience the same symptoms as you, I've been there and don't want to go back there. very very unpleasant to say the least. I will probably lower the dose later but never stop it. Even being on HRT I stil get bad days... I don't think it will totally make you symptom free.
