10/325, 50 -60 mgs per day. Was very effective until recently. Whaty can I ask for from my PM who I will visit for the first time? What will the initial evaluation be like?
Hi Zeppfan. Make sure the doc does a very thorough evaluation at your appt. Personally, I would let them make the decision about meds. You only need to let them know the meds you are on are no longer effective. They will take your medical history, ask about any allergies you may have, BP, heart rate, urine, bring in all x-rays, diagnostic test results, and depending on what area of your body is affected, a neuro exam, check reflexes, range of motion you have, and maybe draw blood. Different pain clinics have different procedures they use. Be sure to read any contracts they have very carefully before you sign. There may be a provision in there you may not agree with. Be sure to question it before you sign. It will show them you are serious about pain control and not there just to get meds. Even if it takes 10 minutes to read the contract, please do so. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Read my profile. I have been on every narcotic. My only suggestion would be to get on something without the acetaminophen in it since your pain is chronic and you are already tolerant to a degree.
There are many long lasting narcotics. Do some research before your appointment, educate yourself.
Whatever you do DO NOT LET YOUR DR. PRESCRIBE OXYCONTIN. The new formulation has many unwanted side effects and apparently is not a very effective medication anymore. Morphine was the one that gave me the best overall relief. God Bless and Good Luck. Stay in touch. You will find loving, caring, educated and supportive people on here. Sable
