... was doing some research on my own and ran across endocet. I was wondering what the difference is. I take it for severe back pain and my doctor doesnt want to give me anything else. I have a bone doctor and a neurologist
Endocet, Percocet, etc. are brand names for the generic formula of oxycodone mixed with acetaminophen. The 5 is the number of millgrams of oxycodone while the 325 is the amount of acetaminphen. There are formulas which have a greater amount of oxycodone in them and a greater amount of acetaminophen. Maybe your doctor would be willing to bump you up to the 7.5 mg oxycodone with acetaminophen.
Doc may not want to give you anything else, but he/she should know enough about tolerance and adjust your dose. A year on the same medication without titration is headed for a dead end. Our bodies adapt and the dose has to be fluctuated in order for the med to continue to be effective. As for endo/perco, they're their same thing. If your meds aren't helping anymore tell your Dr. Just don't give the impression you want an increase, and suggest a variation in dose, even if it's less for a while to get your system readjusted.
Ultimately you may need to find a different Dr. who knows a little more about pain meds.
hello. i have took oxycodone -325 also, they get use to your body and they will not help any more. your doctor needs to give you a differed mg like 10-325, i have sevier stenosis ,also lumberspine pain ,i have these fo many years, I got a doctor that wants to help me with my pain thak mggod , i have took many kinds of pain pills. over these years now for me i take a pain pacth and endocet 10-650 mg i pain pill and the pache the pacth my pacth is called bu-trone 20 mg it last 7 days then you change it .it goes 24 conesty, ask your doctor to change your pills or the patch! if not get a doctor woe cares.this took me to a cange that i can live agin. good luck!
I know this is many years later but I still wanted to add my two cents. My simple opinion to this is that if you need the drug then you need it. However to much of it will do worse than good for you. What I suggest is try getting the oxy dosage lowered then see if you can get ibuprofen prescribed to you and take that with it and then after some time of your body losing tolerance to the drug you can drop the ibuprofen and go back to the standard dosage of oxy. Rinse and repeat as necessary. Worth a shot and ibuprofen isn't bad for you but don't use it when you go back to the higher dose simply because it will build your tolerance to both medications making it harder to rinse and repeat the cycle. If your having a really bad day just try taking Advil with it while on the higher dose should still work wonders but you do have to believe that'll work the mindset is honestly the most important part.
