I am more anxious than I have ever been in my entire life and would really appreciate some help. I've been on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for about six months. At the beginning of my most recent pack, I missed the first two pills but took them as soon as possible on my third day, along with the third pill. I don't always take them at the exact same time everyday either, which sometimes results in a late period (about 2 or 3 days late on the green placebos). On the 23rd, my boyfriend and I had sex for the first time and used a condom, but when he came and pulled out, the condom slid off of him and the tip stayed in me a bit. We immediately removed it and discussed Plan B but decided to ride it out. 4 days later was when I started on the green pills and my period did not come that day. 5 days after intercourse, it still was not there. At this point, I took Plan B because the anxiety was eating away at me. I know the box says 3 days is the limit but I found a lot of info online to support that 5 days can be effective. Now I can do nothing but sit in fear. Can someone please give me some insight? It would mean the world, please.
Plan B is useless after 72 hours (3 days). The Manufacturer states on the website that it is only effective up to 72 hours. Whatever you've read on line, I'd go off what the people that make the drug say!
There are other forms of emergency contraception that can be used up to 5 days, the EllaOne pill, & the IUD/Coil, but I guess you're too late for those now.
It's just going to be a case of waiting until you do a pregnancy test, now. All the Plan B will have done, is mess up your cycle. You could get hormonal symptoms for a couple of weeks after taking the Plan B, & your next period could be late (even if you get some bleeding after using the Pill, which sometimes happens.
To prevent the condom slipping off, always hold its base when he withdraws, & never keep going once he has ejaculated, because it will slide off inside you.
