Having a couple of beers a week would be considered dangerous?
The combination is best avoided.
Methotrexate, especially at higher doses or with prolonged treatment, has been associated with liver problems including acute hepatitis, cirrhosis etc.
Alcohol, along with methotrexate ,can increase your risk of developing liver problems.
How much methotrexate are you taking??? I'm taking 2.5mg 3xs a day on Friday only.
I've drank beer on occasion and hard liquor. Not very often though because I'm on a lot of pain meds as well. But it hasn't affected my liver at all.
It all depends on how much you are taking I think and how your body metabolizes the methotrexate and alcohol.
