I am currently taking Enbrel for my Psoriasis and birth control for obvious reasons. Will these two taken together lower the affect of the birth control and higher the risk of pregnancy?
There is no interaction between the two.
Strictly speaking, there is no interaction between the two. I did run into some issues with the way my liver was metabolizing my birth control pills since being on Enbrel. My OB/GYN (and my former fertility specialist) believes that would explain why I have had two periods some months. My liver function is normal, but because the liver metabolizes both Enbrel and the pill, my pills weren't being absorbed properly, and my period would start unexpectedly.
You should consider using another form of birth control if you are trying to prevent pregnancy.
All the best!
