How effective will be. I stopped taking Celexa on September because I was doing great!, but the Depression came back on November of this year and I was switched to Lexapro
First of all, these drugs do not cure depression, they stop the symptoms. You felt great because you are taking the med. Now you're going to have to go through getting used to an ad again and wait for it to work. I have taken antidepressents for almost 40 yrs and and I know what happens in depression and never want to face that again. The lexapro should help you. It will take 4-6 weeks to get to peak effect tho.
Hi, Cantonio! The two medications are almost the same drug only slightly different ~ like the left and the right hand. They're pretty equally effective with the same possible side effects. Lexapro, though, is approved for depression and anxiety.
Because they're slightly different there's a chance you might react differently, but chances are if you did well with Celexa you'll do well with Lexapro too.
Good luck, feel better soon, and have a Happy New Year! WCV
