I have been on Avodart for 10 years, I am 85 years old and happy with this drug and results. Why would a mail in pharmacy want to change me to something I don't want to take, just because of money. They should give me my choice but they didn't, they said you take this pill or we don't pay. That is not fair. I also read the reviews and I don't like what it says about this drug Finasteride.
Taking Avodart 10 years now pharmacy wants me to take Finasteride?

Talked with a Pharmacist today and he has decided that it was best to stay on Avodart. My decision but he said he could see my point. He wanted to know why I didn't want to try Finasteride and I told him to late to change and have side effects maybe. Also a lot cheaper but I don't care, this drug works for me and I wanted to stay on it. Lucky for me I didn't have to go to the review board and really fight with them. Hope this will help someone else.
Its a new world where insurance companies decide what we need. What bothers me is you carefully select an insurance that pays for your drug, then when you are stuck with it they change the rules. They want all generics it seems and avodart does not have a generic available. In May the Patent is up. If they don't apply for an extension the door will be open for generics to be put up to the FDA for approval.
