My. Question at first I was taking it as Needed for pain as directed but wasn't working well. My pharmacist suggested I take every 4 hours pain or no pain! I'm assuming that the ability to help with pain is decreased if taken during pain. Please advise me on this.
I have been taking 50mg of ultram for a couple of months I'm very pleaI can work and functioHere'?

I'm not sure of your question, but I can share that taking a pain medication before it actually is critical is a reasonable assumption. Ultram contains the mediacation tramadol which can deliver pain relief when taken as prescibed. So follow the doctor's prescription and you will be ok.
What kind of doctor prescribed the ultram? Was it a pain management doc? The reason I am asking is the best way to handle chronic pain is not to get behind the pain, which follows through with your pharmacists advice. So long as you are not exceeding your script from the doctor. If this was NOT a PM, that also makes sense, as he doesn't understand that you have to stay ahead of the pain... not chase it every time. You need to see a PM doctor if you don't have one, as they should understand the need to stay in front of the pain. Good luck to you!
I found that it works alot better to prevent pain then to get rid of it once it gets bad. Actually pain management will tell you that is how to do it with any med. That is the reason we have the extended release pain meds. There is a extended release ultram and it works really well for me, but it is extremely expensive.
I agree ultram is better for preventing pain not getting rid of it. I would talk with ur doc about the every 4hrs. I was on ultram years ago & i took 50mg 6 times a day. I would take one when i got up around lunch around dinner & then around bedtime if i needed the other throughout the day i took em but if i didnt i only took 4 a day. I am no longer on ultram after awhile it stoped working for me. I have S I joint dysfunction & degen. Disk disese so i understand being n pain all the time. Please talk with ur doctor.
