contains sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate and magnesium sulfate. Is there a problem to take the prep solution while taking Lamictal? If so what? Should I not proceed with the solution? Thank you. Jacklyn Allmond
Hi Jacklyn, okay, the issue seems to be the anti seizure meds which are extended release (coated to provide extended release). The issue with the colonoscopy prep kit is that it is designed to remove everything remotely solid from your digestive tract. They can't perform the colonoscopy if solids are present. My advice is not to take the Lamictal XR until after your colonoscopy but make sure the doctor/surgeon/anaesthetist know that you have a seizure disorder and this is what you take for it and tell them what you have done in regards to taking that particular medication. They'll keep a close eye on you during the procedure and the brief time in recovery. It is probably best that you take your medication soon after this.
Good luck and remember that you won't remember. :-)
