I have a normal functioning Thyroid but have several nodules..I had surgery 40 years ago in my teens to remove the 8 i had..they have grown back and I have had biopsies that were benign.every year I do ultrasounds to watch the growth and every year I usually need a biopsy on yet a different nodule.I have a,2.7 cm on my left lobe near my esophagus.I have the option of taking them all out and have a TT..however I am concerned about taking synthroid because of possible weight gain and feeling lousy until I get the right dosage.I am wondering if it is better to keep my thyroid in as long as possible.
Rose; Getting stabilized on Synthroid which I just went through.is not that bad. And weight gain is very rare with the Synthroid, THIS WOULD BE A FINAL FIX AND you would not have to worry about all these problems. ASK the doctor about it. Tell them your concerns and think it out. But were it me I would much rather get rid of those. And not have to go through this. chuck1957
Rose; Rethinking your situation Why not just see if the nodules can be removed again and continue to keep your thyroid if you had them removed 40 years ago and have not had problems. It might just work the same then you would not have to even worry about the Synthroid or synthetic thyroid.
