I have had Hashimotos since I was 13. Ive always taken synthroid. I'm just now experiencing severe fluid retention in my legs, ankles, feet, arms n hands. I take lasix but the swelling won't go down.
I recommend a complete blood panel be done if not very recent since the swelling started. My swelling is due to kidney not the thyroid. Many drugs over time including too much acetaminophen (Tylenol) can cause kidney problems. This may be the symptom of something else. It can also relate to heart problems.
Please see someone ASAP. Keep us posted on your findings.
Lasix will not help this... What you are experiencing is classic symptoms of Hashimotos. You are either not on the right medication for you, not on a high enough dose,or a combination of the two. I have had Hashimotos since I was 16. I know this problem all too well. Ask your Dr. to try tirosint. It is the purest for of synthetic levothyroxine out there now... It is basically a gel cap and looks like a small round vitamin e caplet.
