I was diagnosed 2 months ago and my doc was shocked. My levels were very low. I've been taking levothyroxine for 2 months now, and my energy is back. However, i have lost weight, hair, have an increased heart rate, and have trouble concentrating. I've done my research on this condition, yet something doesn't add up. Should i get a second opinion?
FutureOT15 There is never anything wrong with getting a second opinion if your not sure... But low or high thyroid does not have a age boundry if it well make you feel better than i would do it They may have to take you off the levothyroxine for a while to make the blood test come out with out the reading of the levothyroxine your taking or the readings now might be the same as what the other doctor is getting not really sure about that good luck chuck1957
I had it at 19 years old and sugary, still on it at 57, you can get to much or not enough, I go for blood work every 6 months, I lost hair and weight, heart rate, trouble concentrating, until hormones got stable it takes awhile for that, if your worried about it see another Doctor, best of luck to you.
