It doesn't seem any of my medications are working, I was wondering if I can't be helped any more.
Hello eljay99. I have COPD. COPD never heals itself, it if anything it either remains much the same, or it takes steps that go backwards. I have days that are managable, and days where its just a chore to get anything, especially physically (of course) done. I live in the south (United States) where the humidity plays a role on my lungs. Best I might offer is to increase the use of the short term inhalers. Best of wishes, pledge
If your breathing status is really bad sometimes a course of predisone can help. Normally I'm not a big fan of prednisone because it is so hard on your body but if it comes down to not breathing or prednisone, then prednisone is definitely the lesser of two evils. Talk to your Dr. The air in the summer can be really bad. In cities, the heat holds the pollutants in the air and in areas where the humidity is heavy, this wreaks havoc on those with respiratory illnesses-some places have both. Try to stay inside an airconditioned space, and as pledge states, use your short acting inhalers. Stay out of the heat and watch your news for bad air quality days. Most news forcasts will say when the air quality is poor and for those with respiratory illnesses not to be outside. Talk to your Dr and see if anything else is available or you may need a short course of steroids to get you by for a bit.
