Was on effexor 75 mg for anxiety for 3 months hate the side effects! Doc told me to start Prozac ( fluoxetine) 20 mgs tomorrow, hoping it works, didn't like effexor I'm hoping it will work
Truthfully, I feel like Effexor shouldn't even be allowed to be a medication. I was on Effexor and at one point Effexor XR. They're terrible!! Every psych med is different for each person and every different body type. But Effexor is the absolute worse!! I was given Prozac at one point and I did like it... But is anxiety the only mental health diagnosis that you have? Effexor is more of an antidepressant that helps with anxiety. And also, one more question, do you feel like those meds only help at certain times, but you still have anxiety attacks? I feel that a PRN (take as needed) med helps me so much more. So instead do taking something every day at a certain time that is time released, I can take it when I start to feel anxious - completely canceling out any anxiety or panic attack that I'm about to have.
I'm manic bipolar and my anxiety attacks lead to my manic episodes so it works for me a lot better. Just some suggestions, but if you can answer my few questions I can probably help more... For I have been on many, several, different psych meds and have outlooks and views on each. Would like to talk more... Thank you - JD
Hopeful900; Yes what works for one is like junk to another, Just remember with the SSRI medications it is common for the first week or two to get side effects that do go away and one is increased Anxiety BUT this well only be for the first week or two if you get that at all.Really all you can do is give it a try and remember the full benefits of the new medication could take up to 6 weeks or even a bit more but you do get some relief on some symptoms before that.Give it a good try and see how you do.That really is the only way to tell if it is the medication that well bring you some relief. Chuck1957 stay Positive it helps and don't look for side effects or you well find them.
