Went the clinic today and the Dr. wasn't really telling me how and when to take the new pills, should I start the new pills tomorrow or wait until this Sunday to start a new month & pack of different birth control pills?
First of all, where are you at in your cycle? That is important to know. When you are switching types of birth control pills, you take the old ones all the way through the month including the placebos (or if you have a 21 day pack you take the week off) then you start the new pack of the new pills when it is time for a next pack to start. You dont want to skip any days between packs (unless you take a 21 day pack, of course). You dont need back up as long as you go straight from the old pack to the new pack. If you have never been on pills or havent been on them in a while then you can either start the day you start your period or the first Sunday after you start your period if you choose the Sunday start method. If you start Day 1 of your period, you dont need back up protection. If you do the "Sunday start" you have to use condoms as back up the first seven days. Please ask if you have more questions or if I didnt answer your question fully.
