I have been on 37.5 Paxil for 15 years. Recently stopped being effective. Anxiety and OCD back with a vengeance. Tried upping to 62.5 with minimal results. Dr. now trying .5 mg of Lexapro. On that now 2 weeks, dont see a difference yet. When I start reducing the Paxil, Im so scared Im going to get worse. Anyone have success with this switch?
HOPE2B; Yes this change has been pretty effective for many But normally the Doctor would have you at least up to 10mg Lexapro as the doctor starts to reduce the Paxil. This is what I have seen most often Just question your doctor if you don't see much difference soon, Normally with the Lexapro you have gotten through the worst part which is the first 2 weeks and it would not be uncommon not to notice much difference in the first 2 weeks it takes the first 2 weeks for the body to get used to the medication and many times you have more problems in the first 2 weeks such as increase in symptoms by 3 weeks to 4 weeks you start to feel better and it peaks out where you are at the full blood level of the medication between 6 to 8 weeks. It could be that your doctor is starting you out low because they have not dropped the Paxil down yet.and may Increase the Lexapro dose as they drop the Paxil dose. hope that helps you some. have a nice day Chuck1957
