what can i expect?
I would say that the change is for the better, they as you know belong to the family of benezos, ativan or lorazepam treats a more broad spectrum of "conditions" with regards to alprazolam, I think you swithcing was a good move. From my own personal experience I take clonazepam (klonopin) and ativan and, in the past also xanax.-
Alprazolam --xanax is a potent short-acting drug of the benzodiazepine class. It is primarily used to treat moderate to severe anxiety disorders (e.g., social anxiety disorder) and panic attacks, and is used as an adjunctive treatment for anxiety associated with moderate depression.
Lorazepam--ativan is a high potency benzodiazepine drug which has all five intrinsic benzodiazepine effects: anxiolytic, amnesic, sedative/hypnotic, anticonvulsant and muscle relaxant. Lorazepam is used for the short-term treatment of anxiety, insomnia, acute seizures including status epilepticus and sedation of hospitalised patients, as well as sedation of aggressive patients.
