. I just can't see myself going any higher than 100 micrograms of fentynal. I believe, and I believe my doctor feels the same that I would just be making it harder on myself to change my medications in the future. I am a very fortunate person with health insurance I do not take for granted. I can't imagine living with the health issues I have without the help of the insurance that I have. This change is a big move, that I feel will leave me with a sigh of relief from the discontinuation of the use of a very powerful medication. I believe that I will have more control with an 8 or 12 hour medication.
It just would be tough to find a high-enough equivalent of an other opiod medication. When I was on the Fentanyl patch, 125 mcg, there was just nothing else that would even be able to lightly touch the pain. I had to go through many months of slowly weaning myself down so that other opiods would be able to work. I ended up going on Methadone, and it does help quite a bit with the overall constant pain. Best of luck to you.
