- celexa, zoloft, anxiety, female
I am a 23 yr old female and have dealt with anxiety my whole life. I have been on celexa 10 mg for anxiety for almost 2 yrs. I was doing great and anxiety was all but gone. All of the sudden it just seemed to stop working and my anxiety came back in full force with plenty of panic attacks. My Dr tried to up my dosage to 20 mg but I had horrible adverse side effects. She then decided to put me on 25mg Zoloft (with intent of eventually going up to 50 mg), but first I weened off the Celexa. Now I am currently not taking any medication besides 0.25 mg Xanax when needed. I am feeling ok, but not great, the anxiety is still there, but not nearly as bad as the end of when I was taking Celexa. I am wondering if anyone has had success with Zoloft? I don't want to go on it and feel worse, but feel like I am willing to try as I still have anxiety everyday.
Based on you post I would suggest you stay where you are and pursue non medication alternatives. Zoloft is a heavy duty med, it will increase anxiety during the 2-3 / 4-6 week adjustment period and it's very hard to stop, so, why start?
You sound like you'e in a good place right now to do without heavy duty meds.
I think you need to listen to your doctor. She sounds like she knows what she's doing. I take Zoloft and do great on it. I know many others do as well. Ultimately the choice whether to take medications or not is yours, but if it were me I'd listen to my doctor in this case.
