My doctor inadvertently wrote me a prescription for Seroquel XR, as opposed to the regular Seroquel that I have been taking. I didn't notice it until I passed in the prescription. I'm only on 50mg before bed, but what differences do you think I'll see, if any? Has anyone switched from regular to XR?
Seroqeul XR is extended release. It won't kick in nearly as fast and it will reach peak blood levels about 5 to 6 hours after you take it. Whereas the regular dissolves right away. So take it earlier, but you may still be groggy in the morning. Also, XR is much more expensive.
The XR formulation contains exactly the same amount of quetiapine just in a slower release form. There's no difference between the two as far as weight gain/weight loss, Cathy.
