5 yrs and then dr stopped due to news about breast cx.heart problems etc. Can I now resume some type hormone therapy now that those alerts from the past are "null & void" ? I suffer from osteoporosis, depression & copd.
I really think that drs listen to that stuff because they aren't suffering the symptoms of no estrogen. You aren't to an age where you would not have estrogen naturally, so it has to be preplaced, just like you'd replace thyroid hormone if your thyroid was removed. Lack of estrogen is a main cause of osteo getting worse. It also causes depression. There are other forms of estrogen to take if this one particular one is bothersome.
You might want to check into the bio-identical hormones. They match very closely to what your body is now lacking. Not every GYN knows how to prescribe them, so ask around. I believe they need to be made by a compounding pharmacy - often needs to be done through the mail, but it's doable. Take care -EJ

Just had a hysterectomy last week. Other members tell me I am going through surgical menopause. Now?
