Two days after surgery they sent me to a stupid nursing home,in there got no kind of pt ; they only walk me six times in thirty days ; then sent me home home with no pain medicines. The nursing home kept me pretty mess up on all them meds ; so most of the time i was in bed or a wheel chair. And sent me home with no pain meds so for two week until i was able to get the doctor to get my pain meds; it was like being trap under rubble crying and waiting for help!!! Then the pt came after 16 days of being release from the nursing home. But my pain just kept getting worse; then tremors started with the pain and i went back to the hospital and the doctor that did the surgery, kept me in the hospital for six days trying to just mask and cover ther pain. The doctor trying hard to cover his butt. i told the doc i fell like i am going to be this way forever i'll rather die then have this pain. i only been back from the hospital for three days and the pain is back. Someone will pay!!!!!!
I do understand the pain you are in. I shattered my L-1 and L-2 in an accident. Major surgery, permanent nerve damage, additional surgery after my vertebrates heal. Personally I think the ms contin is way too low a dose. 45mg is the lowest dose available. They go up to either 200 or 300mg. Please tell your doc you need a higher dose extended release pain med. If you have a high enough dose, breakthrough meds (oxy's) should not be needed too often. You will build a tolerance to the hydro's and oxy's very quickly. Please ask your doc for the higher mg of the ER meds. I hope you get some relief soon! I do know the kind of pain you are in. Call your doc asap.
Good luck to you,
Sorry Diana, this is not an answer but a question. I am having back surgery (spinal fusion L4-5) in two months and after reading your post about all the pain you have suffered, what I would like to ask is: knowing what you know now, would you go ahead and have the surgery?
Sorry, I am new and don't know if I could have emailed you directly. Thanks in advance.
Hi there I just read your question about back surgery I had l4l5s1fused I had fell at work and I tried everything before I let them do the surgery mine is now considered a failure because I am in so much pain now still after so many urs but I must day before the surgery I couldn't walk at all the pain and numbness in my legs was horrible!
I have been on ms contain 240 mg a day for the last seven yrs now it has helped me to function on a daily basis but now I am starting to dextox off the morphine and right away after I've recto Ed sixty mg in two weeks I am having the same pain in my back and right leg so it's horrible to answer your question if you and only u know the amount of pain your back is giving u you will know if it's a good idea to try anything the best thing I've learned is do u have a good doc can u trust him? Before my surgery I did a disks Tony did u try that first? I also each time I went to my spine specialist I asked each pt in the waiting room questions about the doc don't be embarssed this surgery will change your life! Be sure but yes if given the choice I woukd do it again because no matter what I'm in less pain than I was before but I'm still fighting pain be careful with the amount of pain meds u are going to get used to taking I finally asked to dextox and right now as I write this I'm in bed thank god for iPads but I can't walk I can't function I am feeling like he'll on earth but I am giving it to god and find myself praying alot with tears in my eyes yessss but I need a miracle!
