... it has been clear. Do I really need the second dose? I only weigh 108
Yes, definitely do the 2nd dose, even if you are running clear after first dose. Your weight doesn't matter. Every adult has around the same length colon whether you weigh 100 lbs or 400 lbs, believe it or not. If you don't do the second dose, whatever food was in your system that hadn't yet moved into your colon when you did the first dose, will be in your colon during the colonoscopy if you don't do the second dose. Your doctor may not be able to perform the colonoscopy or he/she may miss polyps because of poor prep. Good luck!
This is an old post, but for anyone following this procedure, I recommend you buy Vaseline and though it seems yucky, go ahead and press some into the rectum EACH time you go. It will spare you the terrible burning pain and discomfort. For sanitary sake, be sure you wash your hands well and get under the finger nail. It will make a world of difference, I promise you that.
Good advice, Meggie...
Medical gloves work well too! Lol...
Seriously, you get a lot in the box and they can be used in housework because of the tight fit.
Rectal pain can cause constipation!
It also helps to sit in warm water called a sitz bath.
I have a bidet and love it !
For people having endoscopies, use Meggie's advice and do it prior to taking the meds especially if you have hemorrhoids.
If you are all irritated and inflamed it will come out as a positive reading for proctitis which can be avoided by using the Vaseline. Proctitis causes the need to feel like you have the need to have a bm until it's resolved.
