My period usually comes 4 weeks apart. So I took Plan B a week and a half after my period, and 6 days after I had the Plan B period. I was wondering if I am supposed to wait 4 weeks after the Plan B period, or am I supposed to wait for my period around the normal time?
Plan B can delay your period. Usually by a week or two, but sometimes longer.
However, what you should be aware of, is that Plan B works by delaying your ovulation until the sperm leaves your body. If you're already ovulating then it can't do that. In that case you'd need one of the other methods of emergency contraception; either the other emergency pill called Ulipristal Acetate or to have an IUD fitted by a doctor.
Ovulation tends to happen somewhere between days 12-17 of your menstrual cycle. That's if your periods are always regular. Day 1 of your menstrual cycle is the first day of your period.
If you used Plan B at that time, then there is a significant chance that you are pregnant.
Up to a week before you ovulated, your cervical mucus changes in consistency, in order to save any sperm that enters your vagina, ready for when you ovulate. That means that you can get pregnant from sex you had up to a week before ovulation.
An early detection pregnancy test may give you an accurate response, from the day of your period/missed period. I'd take a test even if you think your period has started, just to be sure.
Check the box of the pregnancy test to see how soon it can be used to give an accurate answer.
